ECONOMY BEE HOON
ECONOMY BEE HOON
Back when I was a broke ass cargo hand, this was my meal for the day, excluding the sausage and luncheon meat........ Today I made the tasteless bee hoon tastier, and added luncheon meat and sausage to it, something I couldn't afford back in the day😜😜😜
It was called economy bee hoon as it used to be cheap..... They used to have something simple sold on the side like sausages, luncheon meat and eggs. Today they have almost everything under the sun sold on the side
It's simple to make, cost next to nothing if u stick to just the bee hoon without the side dishes. Back home in Chinatown they serve this with porridge. U dunk this in the porridge and eat it. It's a simple, all day dish. I usually make more than I need when I'm lazy to cook to eat later as it keeps well without refrigeration for a day.
Ingredients
Bee hoon, soaked for 3pax
2 teaspoons light soy sauce
2 teaspoons dark soy sauce
2 teaspoons fish sauce
2 teaspoons dried flounder powder
2 tablespoons minced garlic
Bean sprouts
Corriander leaves
Oil
Water
Method
Mix the soaked bee hoon with all the ingredients except the garlic and bean sprouts. Do this and the chances of the bee hoon breaking up while cooking is lowered
In a hot wok add oil and fry the garlic till aromatic
Add the bee hoon, a little water and cook till the bee hoon is dry
Throw in the bean sprouts, cook for about 15 secs, plate it and garnish with corriander leaves
Simple, tasty bee hoon, better than the tasteless ones I had years ago! Give it a go, it's really good!
Enjoy, and stay safe everyone!
